Part of a growing church for all people and all places

Three people will be representing the Diocese of Sodor and Man on Friday as they participate in a national CofE symposium on Renewal and Reform.  The day of learning and debate takes place in Church House in London, and is part of the national endeavour to enable the Spirit to breathe afresh into the life and witness of all CofE church communities, at all levels, so we become a growing Church for all people and for all places.

Restructuring and reprioritising has been taking place for nearly 5 years in the CofE, following two years of extensive research using statistics and factual evidence resulting in the report “Evidence to Action” and then the Renewal and Reform initiative.  The central Church Commissioners’ contribution to our Growing Faith for Generations funding was available as part of these changes.

Rev Canon Joe Heaton, Miss Ruth Walker (SUMT) and Canon Miss Gill Poole have the privilege of joining representatives from all the other CofE Dioceses for the symposium, and then have the responsibility of bringing the wisdom back to our Diocese.  They would be glad of prayers for this Diocese, for their participation in the Symposium, and for the whole CofE endeavour, as disciples of Christ witnessing to God’s loving purposes for the world.

This is a prayer used and commended by members of the Renewal and Reform central team.

Lord God,
you have called your servants
to ventures of which we cannot see the ending,
by paths as yet untrodden,
through perils unknown.
Give us faith to go out with good courage,
not knowing where we go,
but only that your hand is leading us
and your love supporting us;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
