Bishop Peter is pleased to announce the appointment of The Revd Alessandra di Chiara, currently Interim Minister of St Peter’s, Onchan, as Team Rector of Onchan with Lonan and Laxey.
Bishop Peter writes:
It is with great joy that I appoint Revd Alessandra to this senior position of Team Rector. It is rare that an Interim Minister subsequently becomes the Incumbent of a parish, but reflection and discernment, with the assistance of colleagues, has made clear that Alessandra is the right person for this post. As Interim Minister at St Peter’s over these past sixteen months, she has brought a renewed confidence to the life of worship alongside a gracious and gentle ministry of pastoral care. There are clear signs of recovery and new green shoots of growth after a difficult past few years, and my hope and my belief is that Alessandra will enable this to continue as she exercises her ministry more widely as Team Rector.
I hope that a date in late January will prove possible for the Induction of Alessandra as Team Rector. At that point, the Interregnum concludes and a new chapter begins. I invite you to join with me in prayer: in prayer for Alessandra as she prepares for her new ministry, in prayer for the people of St Peter’s, and in prayer for the people of Lonan and Laxey and for The Revd Jo Dudley who continues as Team Vicar. I also extend thanks to Jo for her ministry of care over this period, and to the people and Wardens and Parish Officers of Onchan and of Lonan and Laxey in enabling the life of these churches and communities to go forward in Interregnum and throughout this demanding year of 2020.
We give thanks to God, who is loving and gracious indeed.
