Retired Vicar Jailed for Historic Sex Offences

Diocesan Statement - Graham Gregory

Following two separate trials on the 1 March 2018 and 9 March 2018, at a Court of General Gaol Delivery, 82 year old Graham Gregory was found guilty and convicted of 3 historic indecent assaults against separate victims. These offences were committed between 1975 and 1990 whilst Graham Gregory was the vicar at St. Ninian’s Church, Douglas.

Graham Gregory has been sentenced on 28 March 2018 to 4 years and 4 months in prison and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

There are no excuses whatsoever for what took place; abuse is a terrible crime and a grievous breach of trust, which has lifelong effects.The Diocese of Sodor and Man apologises unreservedly to those survivors of Graham Gregory's abuse and pays tribute to their bravery in coming forward.

The Diocese has worked closely with the police and statutory authorities throughout this process.The Diocese of Sodor and Man is committed to making the church a safer place for all and has clear procedures in place.
