Harvest Festival helps us to celebrate many things: the successful gathering in crops, gratitude for our food, the work of those who farm the land and the careful stewardship of creation. It is also a time when we think of those often in want of the basic necessities of life. As we continue to live through this time of world pandemic, we are grateful for the vaccination service of the Isle of Man; other parts of the world are not so blessed.
The 2021 Harvest Appeal seeks to change that by supporting UNICEF in its GIVE THE WORLD A SHOT appeal. UNICEF seeks to deliver two billion vaccines by the end of this year since ‘we’ll only ever be safe, if we’re all safe.’ As Christians we would say that this universal care for all is a way of living out Christ’s mandate to care for our neighbour, who is anyone who needs our kindness.
