We are saddened to announce the death of Jim Noakes on Wednesday 24 July. Jim was for many years involved with the life of St Ninian’s Church in Douglas as a Licensed Lay Reader before taking on the leadership of the congregation at Sunday at Ten at the Cat With No Tail Public House in Governor’s Hill.
Jim, who was originally head of the Financial Supervision Commission on the Island, received Maundy Money in the annual service from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in York Minster on the 5 April 2012 in recognition of his service to the Church of England and its ministry.
Jim at the time commented, “I am obviously highly delighted as well as surprised. It must be a tribute to the people who worship each Sunday at the Cat with no Tail on Governors Hill and also to my wife Judy, who has been an inspiration to them and to me.”
Jim and his wife Judy retired to live in Harrogate to be nearer family.
On behalf of everyone in the Diocese who remembers Jim and his ministry we offer our deepest sympathy and prayers.
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
