The Bishop announces the retirement, effective from 14 October 2023, of The Revd John Guilford.
John has been since 2017 a much-loved leader of ‘Sunday at Ten’ – the church which meets in The Cat with no Tail pub. Ordained deacon in 1999 and priest in 2000, John exercised his ministry first in Lonan and Laxey and subsequently in the parish of St George and All Saints. During his time at The Cat John and his wife Trish have worked very much as a team and have been forefront in organising both the spiritual and recreational activities. John has been generous with his time visiting housebound and hospitalised members and often using his own transport to ferry people to different events. In his ministry he has been a great enabler and encourager who has exhibited a gentle and gracious approach to every aspect of his leadership.
The Bishop invites us to join him in giving thanks for the gifts that John and Trish have brought to the life of our diocese, and in praying that their retirement may be richly blessed.
