General Synod Elections

Recent elections have been held for two representatives from the Island to be elected to represent the Diocese at the General Synod of the Church of England.

Bishop Peter commenting on the result of the elections said,

‘The Presiding Officer has confirmed to me today that when nominations for the General Synod elections closed on Monday, she had received one nomination for the vacancy for a Proctor in Convocation, and one nomination for the vacancy of representative of the House of Laity.  On that basis, she has confirmed that Revd. Dr Michael Brydon (Proctor) and Mrs Susan Kennaugh (Laity) have been elected unopposed.  I do hope that you will all join with me in praying for them as they commence their terms at the General Synod meeting in November.  I would like to thank them for stepping forward to serve the Diocese in this way in what will be a very important period in the life of our Church.’
