His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos to Visit to the Isle of Man

Bishop Peter is pleased to announce the visit to the Isle of Man of His Eminence Archbishop Angaelos, Egyptian Coptic Orthodox Archbishop of London, on Thursday 21 May ~ Ascension Day.

Archbishop Angaelos is a monk of the Coptic Orthodox Church.  Having served as General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the United Kingdom since 1999, he was enthroned as first Archbishop of the new Coptic Orthodox Diocese of London in November 2017.

Archbishop Angaelos is widely recognised for his international ministry to young people, for his ecumenical engagement, and for his deep concern for religious freedom, reconciliation, conflict resolution, and the rights of persecuted minorities.   He has received the Lambeth Cross for Ecumenism from the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Coventry Cross of Nails for Reconciliation.  He is President of the Bible Society, President of Churches Together in England, Moderator of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, and also an Ecumenical participant of the General Synod.

The Archbishop has kindly agreed to preach for us at a non-Eucharistic ecumenical service at the Cathedral in Peel on 21 May at 7.30pm.

This service is for everyone from all denominations.  Please encourage your congregations to attend what will surely be an uplifting and inspiring service and an opportunity for all Christians across the Island to come together in shared worship.
