New Diocesan Environmental Officer

The Bishop is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Tony Thick as Diocesan Environmental Officer.  Tony brings practical experience in this role which will enable him to build upon the beginnings laid so effectively for us by Henry Uniacke.

Dr Tony Thick is a retired GP living on the Island and comes from the Diocese of Newcastle, where he was lay assistant to the Diocesan Environment Officer, a Deanery Lay Chair, and a member of the Bishop’s Council.

Commenting on his appointment, Tony says:  “I am looking forward to supporting all parts of the Diocese in continuing to address the environmental crisis caused by global warming. As we work towards Net Zero Carbon by 2030, I will be assisted in this and in combating biodiversity loss by the knowledgeable and enthusiastic members of our new Environmental Action Group.”
