Update on the Bishop’s Vote in Tynwald

In the most recent debate just before Christmas it was requested that Mr Lawrie Hooper MHK conduct a consultation on his Private Members Bill, a copy of this is available blow in both Word and PDF formats for your convenience.

The consultation should be engaged with as widely as possible.
The Consultation can be completed online HERE.

The closing date for the consultation is the 29 February after which Mr Hooper will come back to the House of Keys with his report.

The Bishop holds a unique place in Tynwald, he or she is there to represent all faiths and none. As an unelected member they do not have to hold a particular party line, they also offer a moral and ethical insight into debates and decisions being made.

During the coming weeks as we await the outcome of the interviews for our next Bishop you may like to use the following prayer.

God of our treasured past, our living present, and our future hope,
we give thanks that through your Son Jesus Christ we have been made part of your new community.
Hear us as we pray for the person you are calling to be the next Bishop of Sodor and Man;
give discernment to all involved in the process;
that the one whom we receive may shepherd your flock, teach the faith, proclaim the good news,
and lead us in making Christ visible.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, pour out on us the riches of your grace,
that we may joyfully share in the work of your Kingdom in this Isle.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
